OVERVIEW

Headquartered in Houston with 39 offices worldwide, the Ocean & Air Export Coordinator will be located in Atlanta, Georgia. Our highly skilled people make the difference, and as our business grows, we are looking to expand our Atlanta, GA team. This position is 40 hours a week in the office.

SCOPE

The Ocean/Air Export Coordinator is primarily responsible for customer satisfaction by ensuring the proper and timely movement of export ocean and air freight shipments and information, while complying with any internal and external requirements.  In addition, developing and maintaining relationships with carriers, customers, and warehouses to guarantee the timely delivery of shipments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Establishing freight costs and provide quotes to customers (inland and ocean).
    • Communicate with US exporters/suppliers and foreign agents/consignees via email and telephone.
    • Book cargo with shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies and/or consolidators.
    • Correspond verbally and via email with appointed carriers.
    • Issue pertaining Dock Receipts – Bills of Ladings.
    • File selling rates with FMC.
    • File AES (Export Declaration).
    • Issue MB/L and HB/L instructions.
    • Keep exporters and customers/agents updated on transportation status.
    • Tracking, tracing, and updating the status of shipments on a daily basis.
    • Accurate and timely data entry into our systems.
    • Effective communication with customers, vendors, other UTC offices, and co-workers through a high volume of emails, phone calls and verbal contact.
    • Monitoring of reports.
    • Accurate and timely billing to customers.
    • Maintaining strong and effective relationships with vendors (shipping lines, airlines, trucking companies, etc.).
    • Meet key performance indicators to support the department, branch, product and overall company goals.
    • Must have the desire to understand the operational process flow and constantly seeking improved ways for efficiency.
    • Reporting workflow progress to Management on a frequent basis.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor and manager.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum experience of 3 years required with the above responsibilities in the freight forwarding industry.
  • College degree preferred but not required if candidate has extensive experience.
  • Basic accounting skills in closing of files and currency conversions.
  • Computer Skills:  Microsoft Excel required, Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, a plus.  Have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, Outlook and other computer skills.
  • Required to attend mandatory training classes as needed.
  • Position does not require travel but willingness to travel a plus.
  • Command of the English language with good communication skills. Command of a foreign language a plus.
  • Knowledge of global geography.
